YOUR MAID OF HONOR DUTIES

Being Maid of Honor is, well, an honor. With this honor comes much responsibility. It is not only a job with specific duties; it is also a promise that you will be at the bride's side throughout the marriage process. You might be asked to help everything from planning to parties to the ceremony and reception. (Thankfully it stops at the honeymoon.) Consider some duties the Maid of Honor is responsible for during the bridal process.

Before The Wedding
From engagement parties to bachelorette party to lingerie showers to full wedding showers, the Maid of Honor is present and ready to help. She is ready to help with invitations and announcements, from the writing on the envelopes to sealing and running them out to be mailed. She may also be asked to make sure the other bridesmaids are being updated on the fitting appointments, wedding rehearsal dates and other special requests.





During The Wedding
During the wedding, the bride usually hands the bouquet to the Maid of Honor when the rings are exchanged. Additionally, right after the wedding the Maid of Honor helps the photographer in identifying members of the families and organizing photograph positions. When the bride and groom leave the wedding ceremony, they usually walk away on fallen rose petals. The Made of Honor arranges a petal selection with the florists and makes sure the flower girl knows how to scatter the petals.





After The Wedding
The Maid of Honor might also be called upon to help the bride with honeymoon packing. This could include simple luggage help, clothing selection or even passports if necessary. The Maid of Honor might be expected to help the bride change from her wedding gown into her post-reception clothing. When the wedding ceremony ends and the happy couple leaves for their honeymoon, the Maid of Honor is expected to take care of the wedding gown as per the bride's wishes. It could be returning it to a residence or a rental store.

Being selected as the Maid of Honor is a nice reward and quite a responsibility. Being a good Maid of Honor is just a matter of being attentive to the bride's needs and always available.
