FOUR IMPORTANT WEDDING TIPS![]()
Getting married soon? You thought you could hold out for another few years but who were you kidding? It was time. Congratulations, by the way! Now that you're planning your wedding consider four helpful tips that will not guarantee you a long happy marriage, since you're on your own there, but will definitely help you save some money and have a good start in your new life.
1. Think with your head not your heart. Of course, this only applies to your wedding budget. You will have plenty of memories, each with their own financial burden, and many more years of happiness together. So don't go into debt or go over budget and deplete your bank account just to have a traditionally expensive wedding. The average cost of a traditional wedding is as much as $15,000.00. If you can't afford to lose that money, then simplify some costs. 2. Think about where to get wedding supplies...then go elsewhere. Why shop exclusively at a bridal store? They know you're looking for their merchandise and are definitely in the "impulse buy" frame of mind. Therefore, for better discounters look into department store sales, consignment shops or even thrift stores if you're looking to buy a dress under $200.00. A pre-owned dress doesn't mean the dress is totally cheap and worthless; it may just need some cleaning. A professional dry cleaner could get that dress looking brand new. 3. Rest on the Sabbath Did you know that everyone loves the idea of having a wedding on Saturday? Unless it's of tremendous sentimental value to you, then you're probably paying more money just to save a wedding on the most convenient day of the week. When it comes to catering, reserving chapels and renting banquet halls Saturdays are the most traditional and expensive reservation you can make. 4. Start Your Career as an Analyst It doesn't sound romantic to actually sit down and go over every detail of your wedding budget. But it helps tremendously. Even if you can comfortably afford "around" $12,000.00 or so, by preparing a complete wedding plan and a price listing of every item you can think of you can minimize emergency expenses and avoid going over budget. You may be able to afford a few extra thousand-but if that's the case, then spend it on the honeymoon! Preparing your wedding plans in detail, and long in advance is not about following your heart. But it will help your budget tremendously and give you all the more time and money for romance. |
